Catawba/Wateree Recreational Flows

The following was posted on June 18, 2009

In an e-mail discussion with Duke Energy today, I learned that with the Drought Management Advisory Group's declaration of the return to normal conditions, Duke has begun the full Recreational Flow Schedule as listed in the Comprehensive Relicensing Agreement Negotiated over the past few years with a large group of Stakeholders and submitted to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission with their hydro dam relicensing application. Great Falls flows however cannot be implemented until equipment modifications are made. These modifications will not begin until a new license is issued.

This means that there will be regular weekend flows below Bridgewater ( below Lake James), Oxford ( below Lake Hickory), Fort Mill ( below Lake Wylie) and below Lake Wateree

Duke is listing these recreation flows at www.duke-energy.com/lakes/scheduled-flow-releases.asp.

Duke has also announced that the upgraded Fort Mill Access Area will re-open on June 20th.
