2017 Fall Swiftwater Rescue Clinic (September 9th & 10th)

Date: 09/09/17

Taking a swiftwater rescue clinic is an important step in managing the safety of yourself and others on the river, and is strongly recommended for paddlers of all skill levels.

Some of the things you will learn about during this course include:

  • Identifying hazards and managing risk in a river setting.
  • Self-rescue techniques like defensive and aggressive swimming
  • Boat based rescue techniques for swimmers and gear
  • Group safety techniques
  • Selecting appropriate safety gear for the river
  • How to use a throw rope effectively
  • How to free a pinned boat

The fall clinic will be taught by Matt Thomas, Allen Freeman, and Larry Ausley.  Class will meet both days at River Falls Park on Rockfish Dr, Weldon NC. Space is limited to 15 students, so sign up early to reserve your spot.

IMPORTANT: due to excessive cancellations for past clinics we will not be offering refunds to students who sign up and then cancel unless they can find someone else to take their spot. Do not register for this clinic unless you are certain you can attend.
