Beautiful summer day on French Broad section 9 paddlers were Bill Mulvey and Rosie Eisenberg. Water level 1175 but just fine for my first time back on this section in probably over 35 yrs. Water was coffee colored from upstream thunderstorms the previous day but the sky was bright blue with huge summer cumulus clouds. Great time paddling seeing very few other paddlers on our run. Having last paddled this section as a teenager my memory of the rapids was fuzzy so it was great to have Rosie to point out lines. Fun time stopping to surf and play along the way. Saw immature bald eagle in tree below Sandy Bottom rapid. Great to be back out on the water
