Officers-Past President
I’ve been a paddler most of my life, cutting my teeth on the lazy tidal rivers of my native Long Island. But when a last minute invite to an end-of-grad-school rafting trip down the Chattooga River introduced me to the thrill of paddling rivers with gradient, I knew that it was only a matter of time before I’d be hooked on whitewater paddling. A few years later, I signed up for an introductory clinic with NOC, bought an RPM, and joined the Carolina Canoe Club. I never could have imagined what a central role this sport would play in my life. This adventure, now some 20+ years and 800+ river days long, has taken me to some of the most beautiful and captivating places all over the southeast and mid-atlantic, out west to Colorado and Idaho, and south to Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Chile. And still, nothing gets me more excited than the alerts from rising gauges that promise another stellar day on a river with friends.
I’m deeply honored I was nominated for a second term as CCC President, after serving in that role in 2018. I’ve been extremely grateful for the mentorship and companionship that I’ve discovered within this community, and I’d like to think that I’ve provided some of the same in exchange over the years. I hope to help continue the wonderful traditions that the CCC has long been known for, while navigating the modern day challenges that we face as a club.
Hope to see y’all on the river soon!
