River Safety & Rescue Gear
Awesome Newer Paddlers of the Carolina Canoe Club,
I have put a couple L3 River Safety and Rescue classes on the calendar and hope to get more scheduled once we start the year. Ideally we will double the amount of people that attended a course this year.
I bring this up to let you know we always have extra throw ropes, carabiners, webbing, and misc gear on hand for students to use. If you have not already bought gear I encourage you to wait to purchase any safety and/or rescue gear, especially throw ropes. This is for 2 reasons: first off you should be trained on any gear you carry and secondly your better off actually practicing with different types of gear before you spend $50-$150 on a rope. Make your your spending money on what you will actually use.
On the same note I will be requesting some monies in the Safety budget next month to buy some more Safety and Rescue gear to add to the club’s currently inventory for the reasons listing above. If you like that idea then remember that when the board sends out the proposed budget and asks you to vote!
Thank you
William Holman
