2019 WOR Guide
Welcome to WOR 2019! The following is a guide to some of the events that have been set up this year, including clinics, night life, and a great opportunity to give back to the local community.
And remember: You MUST be a PAID member of the Carolina Canoe Club to participate in WOR. (Join the Carolina Canoe Club!)
CCC50
Carolina Canoe Club will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year during Week of Rivers. The “Main Event” will be celebrated on Wednesday July 3. Several events are scheduled throughout the day that will be close to basecamp. Seth’s Sprint – A timed, but mostly informal Sprint Race from Concrete Beach through Nantahala Falls will begin around 11 am. Bad Idea Theater, a.k.a. Pool Floats Through The Falls, will begin at noon and last for several hours. (Bring your cowbells to help cheer the racers and floaters!!) A catered dinner will happen at basecamp, followed by Cake! Boogertown Gap will provide an entertaining and informative performance of regional music at 8 pm.
River of Dreams
The very popular River of Dreams design will make its return to Week of Rivers 2019 and the CCC50. A variety of T-shirts and a limited run of prints will be available for purchase as well. All profits from these sales will go into the River Conservation fund.
Morning Meeting Time
First official meeting will be at 8:30 am on Saturday June 29th.

Clinics
Clinics for WOR 2019 are posted.
Evening Activities
The day isn’t over when the paddling is done! There’s an assortment of entertaining evening activities taking place at Smoky Mountain Meadows and around Bryson City.
Community Service Opportunities
We want to show some love and support for our home away from home here in Swain County, NC. So in addition to our annual river cleanup on the Tuckasegee (Monday, July 1), the CCC has taken on two additional community service projects this year. The club has organized a food drive through Bryson City United Methodist Church’s Restoration House, in which we’ll be collecting donations of non-perishable food items at WOR and delivering them on the morning of Friday, July 5. We are also going to partner with the Swain County Health department again to support one of their community outreach programs. More to follow.
Pirates of the Tuckasegee
One of the great WOR traditions is the annual Pirates of the Tuck trip. A flotilla of swashbuckling young buccaneers will take over the Tuckasegee Gorge with an arsenal of water pistols and super soakers. Prepare to be boarded, and prepare to get wet!
The Pirates will sail on July 4th!
