Beginner clinics are targeted at those who have little or no experience paddling whitewater or are starting over again with a new type of craft (i.e. switching from kayaking to canoeing). Beginner clinics cover the very basics of canoeing or kayaking.

Novice Single Blade Clinic for solo and/or tandem paddlers
Instructors: Laura Evans and Peter Van Gieson
Location: Tuckaseegee River
Dates: May 2 & 3 with alternate dates of May 23 & 24. If water levels are too low for May 2 &3, the clinic automatically moves to May 23-24. (The instructors will contact clinic participants by April 29 to confirm whether the clinic moves to Memorial Day Weekend.) .
The class size is limited to 4 boats, with exceptions to be considered based on experience.
2020 Intro to Creeking
Instructors: Garrick Taylor and Jon Godwin
Location: To be determined: wherever the water is. Be prepared to travel.
Description: The class will be held on a Class III+ to IV creek such as Big Laurel Creek, Greenbriar (Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon), Wilson Creek, Tellico River, or a similar setting based on water levels and student interest.

2019 Spring Swiftwater Rescue Clinic

The spring SWR clinic will be held most likely in Weldon and is taught by Matt Thomas and Larry Ausley. This is a two day hands on course covering the fundamentals of how to self-rescue as well as rescuing other boaters and equipment with hands-on exercises practicing the skills in a real river setting.

No experience necessary, we will start the day on the pond learning paddle strokes and playing games, then go to a class 1-easy2 river to do a short run.
