Novice Single Blade Clinic for solo and/or tandem paddlers

Location: Tuckaseegee River

Dates: May 2 & 3 with alternate dates of May 23 & 24.  If water levels are too low for May 2 &3, the clinic automatically moves to May 23-24.  (The instructors will contact clinic participants by April 29 to confirm whether the clinic moves to Memorial Day Weekend.) . 

The class size is limited to 4 boats, with exceptions to be considered based on experience.

Increase your fun on the river while reducing the amount of energy you expend having fun.  We will work on river running strategies and skills (river reading, eddy-catching, surfing). Paddlers should be comfortable on up to Class 2 water.

Participants must provide their own paddling gear appropriate for the weather. This includes Canoe with flotation, paddles, PFDs, helmet, paddling clothes, throw rope, bailer or pump, gloves, extra dry clothes in a dry bag, snacks, plenty of water, lunch, sunglasses with retainers, sunscreen, dry clothes for the ride back to camp, money for a snack stop at the end of the day.  If you need to borrow gear, you can try asking on the club Facebook page and/or ccclist@groups.io list.  Paddlers are a friendly sort and you may find people willing to loan gear, but it is not guaranteed.  Instructors are not expected to provide gear.  You may also contact education.chair@carolinacanoeclub.org for questions and advice.

*Do Not start this form until you are ready to complete registration and make payment for the class.  After you submit the form, it will direct you to complete payment via Paypal.  Payment by Paypal is greatly preferred to reduce the paperwork associated with these classes.  If you cannot pay by Paypal, you will need to remove the course from the cart at the end and make payment by sending a check made out to the Carolina Canoe Club with your paper forms.  Registration is on a space available basis and spaces are determined by date payment for the course is received.*
