Paddlers needed for hemlock treatment days on Green

The Paddlers Hemlock Health Action Taskforce (PHHAT) has scheduled two workdays on the Green River in November.

Sunday, Nov. 15: Volunteers will work on the Lower Green, which requires little paddling experience. You don’t have to bring your own gear. Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 22: Volunteers will work on the Upper Green. Boaters must have experience paddling Class III whitewater. Bring your boat and gear. Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants must RSVP Ben Chase with the Hemlock Restoration Initiative at volunteer@savehemlocksnc.org. Following COVID policy, the number of people will be limited. Volunteer spots will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
