Riverkeeper: French Broad faces threats to water quality

French Broad Riverkeeper Hartwell Carson will talk about water quality issues on the river Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.

The river was grossly polluted before the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1972, according to a news release from MountainTrue.

Since the act’s passage, the river has rebounded and supports a thriving recreation community, but water quality has been getting worse.
