Update on CCC Events 2021 (including WOR)

It’s all about safety!

Every time you get on a river to paddle, you make a personal risk assessment about your safety.  As the pandemic continues to impact our lives and paddling activities, you will have to make an additional, individual risk assessment – do you fell safe participating in river trips or events like Week of Rivers?  With that question in mind …

The CCC board met this week to discuss the current COVID-19 impact on the club and anticipated 2021 activities.  First, we are grateful to report that the CCC remains a vibrant presence in the paddling community.  We are thankful for all the members who have continued to renew their membership even though our biggest annual event was not possible last year.  During this continuing time of uncertainty, we are all looking forward to the day when we can see each other again.  The CCC is committed to bringing all of its programs back, but safety remains a top priority and we will not do so unless reasonable feasible under the then-current guidelines.

There are challenging times and there is no precedent for making decisions nor a universally accepted set of guidelines for proceeding.  The CCC board is evaluating best practices to comply with local, state and federal guidelines for the health and safety of our members and the paddling communities that we visit.

We have discussed COVID-19 mitigation guidelines and we will continue to do so as the circumstances continue to develop.  At this time, the board anticipates that traditional events, including Week of Rivers, clinics and river clean-ups will occur in a modified manner, including mask mandates for non-water activities and social distancing.  Obviously all events, including Week of Rivers, will be different from years past.  We are also aware that contingencies may be necessary if the situation worsens.  The success of these events will depend on everyone’s cooperation with mitigation efforts.

Additional updates will be circulated through all CCC social media platforms to make sure everyone knows what is expected of them in the campground, on the river, and for all related activities.  I can’t wait to SYOTR!
