WOR Attitude

Howdy Folks,
It is getting ready to be the greatest time of the year, with apologies to Gauley Season.
Your WOR is about to begin. Yep. Your WOR!
Please have already renewed your membership or join now!

https://www.carolinacanoeclub.org/content/membership/
A few hundred of your closest friends will be joining each other for an Outstanding time in the mountains
It has been a challenging time, but, WOR is here and we are going to rock it!

 Campground

Be sure to check in and pay. Susan and the staff will be very busy so let’s be considerate and patient
Only camp where you are supposed to and do not poach on other’s site without permission.
CCC requests our own quiet  hours of 11-7 be observed. Yep, the campground says midnite. Let’s meet in the middle at 11pm, please. Check your outside voice as you are always considerate of others I’m sure.
Be sure to get your car passes if you are not camping here.  Park in designated areas, observe traffic flow and please go slow. We’re going to try a new  trip departure system this year to improve traffic flow and group integrity.

Morning Meeting

Please be early. You folks know what my standard for ontime is. Maybe not that early.
Step away from the meeting if you just have to have a conversation. I know you are excited
to be here and see old friends. We all are. We have a speaker set up, but that is not so you can hold side conversations, right?
The first couple of days are a bit longer meetings as we welcome a whole set of new folks. Be patient with them and with us. Be helpful to them and us. Tom has a schedule and will stick to it. We are very fortunate to have Mr. WOR running the show.

Area Services and Restaurants

Be mindful that the same problems we have at home, they have here. Staffing and supplies are challenging everywhere. Be patient and generous with your compliments. Businesses may close earlier than expected. This is their home and we are visitors. Let’s continue our tradition of adding value wherever we go. Large groups may find difficulty being served or served timely. Cooking at camp occasionally  has been suggested by a prominent local who knows the area’s challenges.

Patience with every little big thing and little thing will make your trip and your few hundred other friends’ trips go smoother.
I am excited you are coming to WOR.
