Hi guys,
This Easter Weekend I’ll be leading, as usual, the annual CCC Easter Trip on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Easter weekend, April 18-20. We’ll be camping the main campground at Warriors Path State Park near Kingsport, TN. This is located at Exit 59 on I-81 in Tennessee.
I’ve rented three campsites in the main campground, sites 6, 7, and 8 for the campers coming on the trip. Each site will hold 3-4 campers. If you want to reserve your own site, you can do so online with the park.
For non campers, there are several motels at Exit 59 and numerous restaurants in the area.
We’ll meet each morning at 8:30 AM at campsite 6 to go over the river levels and choose our trip(s). All the rivers in the area are free flowing and subject to recent rainfall amounts. We’ve always been able to find good rivers with good levels. I’ll lead, each day, a novice-low intermediate run so everyone can be assured they’ll have a river to paddle. If there is a more difficult run available, we usually have someone competent to lead the trip.
Unfortunately, the Nolichucky and Toe systems are not available due to hurricane Helene. Other rivers we have run in the past are:
Laurel Creek and South Holston at Damascus, VA
2 sections of the Clinch River
Big Cedar Creek
North Fork of the Holston near Kingsport
Greenbriar section of the Middle Prong
Little River in the Smokies
Big Tumbling Creek
Beaverdam Creek near Damascus
Other runs we haven’t run before:
Clinch at St Paul
Taylors Mill to Pounding Ford on the Clinch
Chatham Hill section on the North Fork of the Holston
There’s no need to call me to tell me you are coming— just show up. I’ll be at the campground for Thursday afternoon on.
If you have any questions just call me at 423-366-1464.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
