Event Type

Arrrrgh Mateys! Dread Pirate Captains Hoffman and Markoff are conscripting their crew for the Annual Pirates of the Tuckasegee Cruise. Pirates of all ages are welcome. Times posted are approximate. Actual sailing time will depend on the tides. This is a day-long water fight down the Tuckasegee River in Dillsboro, NC, and includes several class II rapids. All paddlers are welcome. Water canons are encouraged. (No head shots, please) Helmets recommended for everyone and required for children. Doesn’t matter what kind: bike, skate, ski, scooter, crash, or white water, just some form of cranial protection. PFDs are required to be worn during the trip. A playful, fun spirit is also required. Pirate costumes and decorations encouraged. Optional walk the plank at Jump Rock.
Bring lunch, sunscreen and plenty of water. More specific details will be discussed at the morning meetings on July 3 and July 4.
Ice cream social back at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground Pavilion at 7:00 p.m. Bryson City fireworks at 9:00 p.m. if you’re still awake.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
