I lead a few first timers Saturday and a few old hands. Sunday morning Garrick, Alyssa, and Mary joined me at the put-in. Alyssa styled the Ocoee and led us down one of the rapids; I'm pretty sure she only flipped once and she rolled so fast I though it was only a brace at the time. Saturday and Sunday were doubleheaders with runs after lunch. Sunday I ran an afternoon solo run 'cause the young pups camping with me could no hang; I got a pretty good trashing in a ledge hole while the river was surging after the upper release ended. I recovered just fine no worst for the wear. However this confirmed the seat in my kayak was badly worn though only six months old… it was really hard trying to hold the edge high and steady with the seat bouncing around. Obie fixed the problem and installed some new prototype parts Tuesday at the farmhouse just of Crest Road near the Green.

Monday I safety boated for Iraq War Vet; he even surfed Double Suck twice and stayed in his boat. All in all it was a great Memorial Weekend and a perfect Memorial Day.

PS – I do not advocate solo runs on the Ocoee… although I may accept the risks personally.
